Are you a NEW STARTER aged 9 years +
Ballet remains an essential class for older students who are serious about their dance training. At this stage, we focus on refining technique, building strength, and developing artistry, as well as maintaining the discipline and focus ballet requires.
Our work with the British Ballet Organisation syllabus ensures dancers have a structured pathway, with examinations providing milestones to measure progress and achievements. Ballet underpins every style of dance, making it a must for those aspiring to reach their full potential.

Tap offers both challenge and enjoyment for older dancers. It develops strong musicality, sharp rhythm, style and stage presence, while also boosting fitness and confidence. At LMSD, classes follow a clear pathway from beginner to advanced levels, with opportunities for exams and performance work that showcase individual flair and skill.

Modern becomes an expressive and versatile class where older students refine technique and explore more advanced styles such as lyrical and contemporary. Here, dancers learn to connect emotion to movement, develop artistry and build their own unique style. Classes balance strength, flexibility and performance training, with regular teacher assessments ensuring that students are guided into higher-level groups as they’re ready.

Musical Theatre develops versatile performers by combining singing, dancing and acting. Older students work on ensemble songs from Broadway and West End shows, harmony work, staging and choreography, as well as scene work and improvisation to strengthen their acting skills. These classes help prepare students for auditions and workshops while building confidence and stagecraft. For those looking to excel, pairing Musical Theatre with Modern provides a strong performance foundation.

The BBOdance Musical Theatre syllabus gives students the chance to train as true triple-threat performers. Combining singing, dancing and acting in one exciting programme. Designed to build confidence, stage presence and versatility, the syllabus introduces age-appropriate repertoire from well-loved West End and Broadway shows alongside technical training in voice, movement and drama. Students work through progressive levels with clear goals, while developing creativity, teamwork and performance skills that are valuable both on and off the stage. Examinations and awards offer recognition for their hard work and achievement, helping each dancer take their next step with confidence.

Street is a high-energy freestyle class for dancers who love performance with attitude and attack. Incorporating styles such as street, hip hop, funk and breakdance, these sessions focus on rhythm, sharpness, musicality and personal style. It’s the perfect class for building confidence, stamina and stage presence while exploring the latest urban dance trends.

Acro offers dancers the chance to combine technical dance training with gymnastic skills such as balances, limbering, tumbling and partner lifts. At LMSD we are proud to be certified in the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, a proven program that ensures safe progression through flexibility, strength and control.
